Savage Tech's Field-Proof Learning
Published Edition vs. Adopted Edition
The 2026 NEC has been published, but a learner's state still enforces the 2023 edition with amendments. Decide which course version may be represented as applicable.

Published Edition vs. Adopted Edition
Explain publication, adoption, amendments, and CE eligibility using a national map and a 2023/2026 version-control timeline.
Learning objectives
- NEC26-O1
Publication does not equal adoption
The 2026 NFPA 70 publication is the current national model-code cycle, and 2023 is the immediately previous cycle. A state or local jurisdiction may adopt either edition, retain an older edition, amend the model code, or require local adoption.
Before checkout, the platform must match the learner's state, local jurisdiction, license classification, renewal period, delivery method, and approved course version.
Preserve multiple code cycles
Do not overwrite an approved 2023 course when building the 2026 version. Preserve prior content, exams, certificates, approvals, reporting records, and learner access for the required retention period.
A transition course may compare editions, but it must still identify which requirements are currently enforceable in the selected jurisdiction.
